Canada gets mention on Aljazeera

canada got a mention on aljazeera today regarding our governments policies on giving refuge to conscientious objectors during the vietnam war and now during the iraq war. one paragraph reads as follows "the Canadian government's present acts of aggression in Afghanistan and Haiti has led tens of thousands of Canadians, including several hundred of former resisters from the Vietnam era, to petition their government to provide refuge for this new generation of conscientious objectors." while aljazeera does praise those canadian citizens protesting the wars, they do refer to our governments acts of aggression in afghanistan and haiti. canada is keeping the peace and restoring democracy in one nation that has never had a democratic election before(afghanistan), and another that has been plagued by corruption and military coups(haiti), i wouldn't call that aggression but i suppose that is where aljazeera and myself have different opinions(amongst other things). just goes to show that no matter how good our intentions are, canada will always be regarded as a western, zionist, colonial power imposing our beliefs on the middle east. we obviously aren't placed in the same ranks as the u.s. and the u.k. especially when it comes to iraq, but we are still on the radar screens of al quaeda, the taliban, and other terrorist organizations none the less.

i have three people interested in renting rooms in my house in saskatoon. gardy, who lives there now, will show the house tomorrow to a guy named bernard, to a girl named heather on the weekend, and another girl named jody wants to see it on the 18th when i am in stoon. hopefully at least one of these people will move in and work out. zrymiak is going over to the house tomorrow night to take pictures with his digital camera so i can put them online to give people a better idea of what the house is like if they are interested in renting. i think once people actually see my house more people will become interested because it is a very nice house, at least in my opinion.
