spino cerebellar ataxia
my mother and grandmother came to visit me today. they helped me clean my house and brought be some supplies i needed and was too lazy to get for myself, including a shower curtain, couch covers, bath mats, and a swiffer. don't get me wrong, im grateful for what they did but when i am around them i guarantee that my blood pressure goes through the roof.
my mother was diagnosed about sixteen years ago with spino cerebellar ataxia. this is a disease which affects the musculature and nervous system of the body and in my moms case, causes her to have extremely bad balance and coordination. some symptoms are not unlike multiple schlerosis and parkinsons disease. until tonight i have never been interested in this disease with which my mom has suffered for most of the time that i have been alive. from what i understand, there are about fifteen different types of this disease and they have a lot of common symptoms, which makes it difficult to diagnose between them. there are also no known cures or effective treatments. if anyone has any information regarding any experimental treatments to alleviate the symptoms, please let me know.

I am just curious as to why you just now took up interest in your moms disease? Also wouldn't she know about treatments for it? Is it worsening or does it always stay the same? I never knew about this. Also, the blood pressure comment - hilarious!!!
there are so many different types of this disease that it is hard to diagnose. there are medications that she has tried, or currently on but they have little or no effect. my mom is farely computer iliterate so i thought i would just throw this out there to find out if anyone had heard of anything that might be experimental or clinical trials or anything.
