SASKATCHEWAN
Constituency of Weyburn-Big Muddy

Voter Registration

Enumeration

From Friday, May 19, 2006 through to May 28, 2006 a door-to-door enumeration of eligible electors will be conducted in the Weyburn-Big Muddy constituency. In urban and easily accessible rural constituencies, enumerators will make as many call back visits as possible during the enumeration period. In some rural areas, where distance makes a second visit impractical, enumerators will follow up on their initial visit by telephone.

The enumerators in the Weyburn-Big Muddy constituency will sit on Thursday, June 15, 2006 from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. C.S.T. to make revisions to the voters list. Those residents not recognized on the revised voters list are able to register to vote by making a declaration and providing proof of voter identity and place of ordinary residence at an advance poll or at a special or regular poll on Election Day.

Qualifications

In Saskatchewan, a qualified elector must:

* be a Canadian Citizen or, between the day on which the Writ of Election is issued and election day, become a Canadian citizen;
* be at least 18 years of age or become 18 years of age on or before election day;
* have ordinarily resided in Saskatchewan for at least six months immediately preceding the day on which the Writ of Election was issued; and
* be ordinarily resident in the constituency in which he or she seeks to vote on the day the Writ of Election was issued.

Each British subject, other than a Canadian citizen, is entitled to be enumerated and to vote if he or she:

* was qualified as a voter on June 23, 1971;
* has ordinarily resided in Saskatchewan for at least six months immediately preceding the day on which the Writ of Election was issued; and
* was ordinarily resident in the constituency in which he or she seeks to vote on the day the Writ of Election was issued.

Hi,

You can vote in an election provided that you are Canadian, live in the riding, and have lived in Saskatchewan for six months.

Since you moved in during March, you officially live in the riding. Did you live in Saskatchewan before that? If so, then you can vote. If you moved from another province or country (and you weren't just away at school), then you don't qualify.

You can vote on election day, in advance at the advance polls (on specific days), by mail (absentee ballot), or in person at the Weyburn Returning Office.

For more information on absentee ballots, check out http://www.grahammickleborough.ca/links.html.

The rules are described by the Elections Saskatchewan website: http://www.elections.sk.ca/weyburn/weyburn-bigmuddy.php

Hope this helps!
