Aber Dome

The Abernethy rink has an artificially generated three sheet curling surface on the south end of the rink, and a skating rink on the north. Curling takes place two nights a week for regular league play, and some years hosts super league games one night a week. Abernethy occasionally has a rec hockey team affectionately known as the Aber tampons, becaue they may not be number one, but they're right up there.

Between the two rinks is a lobby with kitchen, concession stand, and seating for spectators. Upstairs is a licensed lounge with overhead views of both the curling and skating rinks. Although the lounge is usually only opened during skating or curling events, it is home to the cheapest booze in town. As well as being able to watch curling or skating below, a big screen television and satellite dish allow customers to watch their favourite sporting event or listen to music. At the end of the curling season the big screen T.V. is raffled off.

The Abernethy rink board consists of Kelvin Lingelbach as president, Scott Ruecker as Vice President, Wanda Englot as Secretary, Teri Englot as treasurer, and board members consist of Neil Legaarden, Warren Englot, Stephane (fuzzy) Locas, Jerry Engel, Launa Shaw, and Kirsten Bates.

Ball Diamonds

Abernethy is home to two modern ball diamonds as well as two other not so modern diamonds. During the spring and summer Abernethy is host to several slow pitch games for the home team of the Aberiginals, which play in a slow pitch league with Balcarres, Lemberg, and Neudorf.

Abernethy was also home to the now defunct Abernethy Angels fast ball team. The Angels competed competitively in the tri hiway fast ball league and also attended provincial tournaments in Saskatoon, and Lloydminster, as well as the Western Canadian Finals in Edmonton Alberta. Washroom and concession facilities for the ball diamonds are located at the lions ball shack to the west of the diamonds.
