Eric TIllman victim of over zealous Police

Maybe I'm late to the game, but I was recently given some information about the whole Eric Tillman sexual assault bullshit. This information comes to me second hand but I do know the original source, who's step daughter is friends with 'the girl', and my source well enough to believe them both.

Apparently 'the girl' who Tillman allegedly assaulted was a babysitter, Tillman was at home from work early because of back pain. The 'assault' was apparently when Tillman put his hand in the girls pocket. Why would Tillman put his hand in a 16 year olds pocket, who knows, but in all likely hood it was something as innocent as placing the girls payment for babysitting.

Here's where things get wonky, for reasons unknown to me 'the girl' told one of her supposed friends, who in turn told her father who just happens to be a over zealous police officer. The police officer is the one that launched the complaint against Tillman, NOT 'the girl' or her family.

If all this is true, everyones opinions will differ on whether Tillmans action was appropriate or not, especially since we don't know for sure why he put his hand in her pocket. Regardless, if both 'the girl' and her parents don't want this case to proceed either the Police or the Crown should drop these ridiculous charges. Ridiculous not because Tillman is a hero to Saskatchewan sports fans but because if he can be prosecuted for a crime that the alleged victim isn't complaining about then it becomes open season on anyone who may be acquainted to any member of the opposite sex even if they're over the age of consent.

Beer Advisory !!!

As this hallowed weekend of consumption begins there is some disturbing news coming from the world of beer. Bottles of Stella Artois beer in Ontario and British Columbia have been tampered with.
So far only six bottles have been discovered that were tampered with. The bottles had an expiration date of 2005, but more current labels were glued over top and the bottles were filled with concentrated alcohol. None of the people that purchased the beer became sick because they noticed the high concentration of alcohol and spit it out. Stella cans, and draft have not been affected and so far the liquor stores aren't affected either because the tainted bottles were sold in restaurants.
This probably isn't going to affect many beer drinkers in Saskatchewan, even if it is the weekend of Craven Country Jamboree, now if it were tainted Pil or Boh we might have a problem, but I haven't heard of any issues with either of those brands for years. Now that I think of it, who found the mouse in their Pil or Boh, was it skitter or mushy ?

Katepwa Rattlesnake Hoax

Betty sent me a picture and explanation of a huge rattlesnake found on the south end of katepwa near the spillway in October 2006. Sorry Betty but it's a hoax, i found it on Snopes and another website. The picture has been floating around the internet and different emails since at least 2005, snopes says the picture is genuine but the locations that accompany it have included Texas, Wisconsin, and apparently Katepwa Saskatchewan now.

Click here to read the Snopes article about the picture.

UPDATE

Someone else claiming this rattler was found in Katepwa.

Saskatchewan ! = $1,500,000.00

Although I agree that Saskatchewan is the best place to live, work, and raise a family, I'm not sure adding an exclamation point to the end of Saskatchewan is worth the 1.5 million dollars that our government paid.

Canada's Worst Neighbourhood

I just finished reading the macleans article that said north central Regina was Canada's worst neighbourhood and found nothing about it surprising.

I have seen people scouring garbage dumps, abandoned houses, basements of burned down houses, and even stealing old appliances from the curb to scavenge copper wires to melt down and sell to presumably finance drug or alcohol addictions. I've witnessed a former friends aunt pay the village drunk 24 beers to babysit her small children while she went to party. I caught people using syringes in the bathroom of a bar to shoot up drugs, and heard them trying to convince another person to get them more syringes from the veterinarian because the local pharmacist wouldn't sell them to them anymore. While having drinks in the bar one night with some friends, a group of men were showing off their M-16 that they kept in their vehicle in the parking lot, and an aquaintance had a gun pulled on him while checking cattle in a pasture that his employer rented on a near by indian reserve.
When I was a little kid my parents owned a liquor store. It seemed like almost every weekend the store was broken into and liquor, and cigarettes were stolen. On more than one occasion my dad, and other local men gave chase to the perpetrators because of the slow reaction time of the RCMP, once resulting in a rollover on the end of main street. On one occasion one of the men that broke in cut himself on the broken window and got his blood all over the place, including merchandise. We learned later that the person in question was HIV positive.

All the incidents I describe above didn't take place in Regina, or Saskatoon or any other city for that matter. They took place in three small Saskatchewan towns within close proximity of each other, with a total population of less than 1200 peoople.

I've walked alone at night in obvious cities like Saskatoon, and Edmonton, but also larger cities like Honolulu Hawaii, Madrid Spain, and Monterrey Mexico, but you would never catch me walking alone at night, or day for that matter in certain parts of Regina.

If all the things listed above that I have witnessed first hand, and many more disturbing, and outrageous things which I have heard of second hand and didn't repeat here can happen in communities with such a small population, why is it so hard for some people to believe that north central Regina could be considered Canada's worst neighbourhood ?

Get Back to Work

Another winter storm is hitting southern Saskatchewan and right on cue the SGEU strike has escalated to include highway workers that are responsible for clearing and salting the highways. Murray Wood just interviewed Patrick book who has been on the Trans Canada highway since around 6 a.m. this morning and hasn't seen a snow plow yet.
I'm a government employee that belongs to a union, but not the SGEU, and I do not think these guys should be striking. In fact if there are any injuries, or loss of life on a particular stretch of highway, those who were scheduled to work in that area should be held personally responsible.

Natives Allowed To Hunt at Night

text from treaty 4
The Supreme Court of Canada has given a group of Canadian First Nations people the right to hunt at night despite the fact that night hunting is illegal throughout Canada.

Ten years ago two men from the Tsartlip reservation on Vancouver Island were hunting at night with rifles and electric torches (what I would assume would be spotlights). The two men bagged a deer, but it turned out the deer was in fact a decoy set up by conservation officers. They were arrested, but they argued that night hunting is a tradition guarunteed in the treaty their band signed with the government in 1852.

The case has apparentlty bounced around the different courts for the past decade until it was heard by the Supreme Court which ruled in the mens favour even though they were split on the issue, saying that public safety should outweigh all other concerns, even aboriginal rights.

The Supreme Courts decision will have undoubtedly opened a can of worms when other native groups and individuals start challenging current laws that conflict with long standing native traditions.

What is going to take priority, one group of peoples ancient traditions that are no longer necessary in todays modern world, or the public safety of the rest of Canada ?

Deny, Deny, Deny

Colin Thatcher, son of former Saskatchewan Premier Ross Thatcher, and a former Saskatchewan M.L.A. himself, who was convicted of murdering his ex wife Joann Wilson was granted full parole today. Personally I don't think he was responsible for the murder of his ex, and even if he did do it, he's served ample time, there are more dangerous offenders who should be occupying Canada's prisons than 68 year old former provincial politicians. Besides we should be worrying about locking up these criminals, especially Rae.

Humboldt Hospital Tax

posted by redneck stranger on Humboldt Hospital Tax

Humboldt Hospital and 35% Rural Health Tax

There are a number of interesting public policy issues surrounding the recent announcement that the taxpayers of Humboldt and district are required, by the provincial government, to raise millions more for the long promised new hospital.

These issues need to be fully and publicly aired. They include:

1. Is it discrimination for government to demand that rural residents pay for 35% capital construction while urban taxpayers pay nothing?
2. Why can’t Humboldt hospital continue to provide day surgery and other services to help reduce wait times and lists and isn’t that a provincial benefit?
3. What exactly is it that the Humboldt area taxpayers are paying for?
4. Is there a fundamental difference between voluntary fund raising and a Hospital tax?
5. Does a Rural Hospital tax violate the principles of Tommy Douglas’s vision of fair and equitable health care for every citizen of Saskatchewan?

publication ban on names of abduction victims

i understand the need to protect the names and identities of minors but isn't it kind of pointless to initiate this publication ban now. everyone knows the names of these two boys, where they are from and what they look like.

at least the sicko that took these kids in addition to being charged with abduction is also being charged with sexual assault. i think he should be castrated, or killed, whichever is easieast to implement, we shouldn't be wasting anymore time and resources on this waste of skin. cast your vote on the sidebar what you think should be done.

i got my satisfaction

the rolling stones have announced another concert date for Regina on october 6th 2006. like last weeks ticket sales, this weeks were available in advance to stones fan club members, riders season ticket holders, and sponsors of the event. obviously those people that were angry the first go round that riders season ticket holders got preferential treatment will be angry again, and to them i say na na na na naaaaaa, my dad and i got a shit load of tickets and you didn't. HA HA HA HA.

get over it already, this is how the world works, every venue that has concerts offers advanced tickets to sponsors and season ticket holders, maybe not as many as eight(and in some cases more, HA HA) but tough luck, life isn't fare.

im not even going to use the excuse that rider fans deserve the tickets because they have supported the riders and taylor field for years and so on and so forth, we might deserve them, we might not but it doesn't matter because we got them anyways. see you at the show !!!

Pedophile surrenders peacefully

The stand off between police and convicted child molester Peter Whitmore ended peacefully this evening. Jordan Bruyere, the 14 year old that had accompanied Whitmore from Brandon was released before Whitmore surrendered. Bruyere has been taken to the same hospital in Regina that Zachary Miller was taken to for a check up. Hopefully neither of these kids were harmed by this sick piece of shit.

Neudorf man qualifies for world series of poker

Doug Gattinger of Neudorf Saskatchewan won an all expense paid trip to the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas Nevada including the $10,000 buy in on an online contest with a $16 entry fee. This dude looks familiar to me but I can't place it, although I'm sure I ran into him somewhere, as I grew up only two towns away from Neudorf. Good luck to him and I'm sure if he has any kind of success in the tournament all sorts of new found friends will come out of the wood work from Neudorf and area.

Rider fans want answers

my dad got a hold of Jim Hopson, the President and CEO of the rider organization this afternoon (don't ask how he got a hold of him, i don't know) to find out if any more advanced tickets would be made available to season ticket holders. he was told that they are putting the pressure on ticket master or the promoter or whoever dictates how many tickets are sold in advance to make more available. all season ticket holders, action pack holders, and share holders were told that they would be able to purchase up to 8 tickets each if they so chose. it seems that promise was broken because after the advanced sales to fan club members yesterday there were only 300 tickets left for rider fans today. hopefully the riders pull it off because we just want some 'satisfaction'.

UPDATE
I found a copy of the letter sent out to season ticket holders telling them about the opportunity to purchase tickets to the rolling stones concert. here it is.

Dear Rider Fan,
The Saskatchewan Roughriders very much value your support of the team and to demonstrate our appreciation and commitment to our fans, we are giving you exclusive access to the concert of the century!
As a Rider Shareholder, Season Ticket holder, or Action Pack holder, you can purchase up to 8 Gold Circle tickets to the October 8th Rolling Stones concert presented by SaskTel at Mosaic Stadium before the general public!
This limited time offer is available from Thursday, July 27 at 10 am through Friday, July 28 at 5 pm only. Tickets to this concert will go on sale to the general public on Monday, July 31. Tickets must be purchased online at Ticketmaster.ca. When prompted for your password at Ticketmaster.ca, please use your account number which is located in the top left corner of this letter.
Please note that this special offer is for up to eight Gold Circle tickets per account holder and not per the number of season tickets, action packs, or Rider Shares under your name.
For example: Having two season tickets and a Rider Share in your name will entitle you to purchase eight Rolling Stones tickets and not 24.
Thank you again for your continued support and enjoy the Rolling Stones concert at Mosaic Stadium!

Sincerely,
Jim Hopson,
C.E.O.

the advance tickets for the upcoming stones concert in Regina sold out in less than an hour. the website to buy tickets on seemed completely inaccessable and the phone line was apparently of no help either. after the advance sales yesterday to american express card holders and fan club member there were apparently only 300 tickets left for rider season ticket holders, and share holders. hopefully they open up more tickets.
