Root Beer, Ketchup Chips, Boobies, Titties, Ass, and Tough Guys
I'm not going to explain why Bucka is saying what he says in the video, you have to know him to understand.
A brief explanation of the next two videos for those of you out there that aren't as enlightened as those of us from Abernethy, and Balcarres. A tough guy shot consists of a line or pile of salt which is snorted up the nose similiar in fashion to a line of cocaine, then a shot of tequila is drank, and last but not least a lemon wedge is squirted in the eye. This is similiar to a two eyed turkey shot.

Canada's Worst Neighbourhood
I just finished reading the macleans article that said north central Regina was Canada's worst neighbourhood and found nothing about it surprising.
I have seen people scouring garbage dumps, abandoned houses, basements of burned down houses, and even stealing old appliances from the curb to scavenge copper wires to melt down and sell to presumably finance drug or alcohol addictions. I've witnessed a former friends aunt pay the village drunk 24 beers to babysit her small children while she went to party. I caught people using syringes in the bathroom of a bar to shoot up drugs, and heard them trying to convince another person to get them more syringes from the veterinarian because the local pharmacist wouldn't sell them to them anymore. While having drinks in the bar one night with some friends, a group of men were showing off their M-16 that they kept in their vehicle in the parking lot, and an aquaintance had a gun pulled on him while checking cattle in a pasture that his employer rented on a near by indian reserve.
When I was a little kid my parents owned a liquor store. It seemed like almost every weekend the store was broken into and liquor, and cigarettes were stolen. On more than one occasion my dad, and other local men gave chase to the perpetrators because of the slow reaction time of the RCMP, once resulting in a rollover on the end of main street. On one occasion one of the men that broke in cut himself on the broken window and got his blood all over the place, including merchandise. We learned later that the person in question was HIV positive.
All the incidents I describe above didn't take place in Regina, or Saskatoon or any other city for that matter. They took place in three small Saskatchewan towns within close proximity of each other, with a total population of less than 1200 peoople.
I've walked alone at night in obvious cities like Saskatoon, and Edmonton, but also larger cities like Honolulu Hawaii, Madrid Spain, and Monterrey Mexico, but you would never catch me walking alone at night, or day for that matter in certain parts of Regina.
If all the things listed above that I have witnessed first hand, and many more disturbing, and outrageous things which I have heard of second hand and didn't repeat here can happen in communities with such a small population, why is it so hard for some people to believe that north central Regina could be considered Canada's worst neighbourhood ?

In august i made a few pages and a blog for my home town of Abernethy Saskatchewan on Breakfast Meat. As of today Abernethy now officially has its own web site which can be found at www.abernethysaskatchewan.com . So far none of the content or layout has changed, but if anyone has any comments or suggestions let me know here, in the comments of the Abernethy blog, the Abernethy guest book, or you can email me. If there are any broken links or any mistakes I made in the transfer let me know about them as well.

watch out for bears
i just got back to coronach tonight after three weeks of holidays. the original plan for my holidays was to help my dad with harvest, the weather however had other plans. the first week we were able to combine, then it started to rain and we weren't able to combine for the last two weeks. the rain allowed me to have more free time than is normal for harvest, you might think i would use this free time to accomplish something but alas, i didn't. i went to yorkton one night and partied with some of my buddies including d.j. danny ismond of gx94 fame who i hadn't saw in quite a while, i also gave saskboy a shout to have some beers but he was in calgary(im not sure how i figured out his phone number). i also have some recollections of balcarres bar but im not sure when i was there. tank and i even visited lemberg bar one night.
one of the more interesting things that happened while i was at home was when my dad and i were out checking grain bags. my dad uses large white plastic bags to store some of his grain after it has been combined. when filled these bags stand about 5 to 6 feet tall and can reach lengths of over 200 feet. after checking one of the bags near abernethy we discovered that deer, and racoons had poked holes in the bag to eat the grain inside, needless to say my dad was pretty pissed. after we patched the bag we drove to another bag located right on top of the qu'appelle valley. when we got close and i saw the damage done to this bag i hoped to hell we wouldn't be patching the holes in this one because we would be there for days. in addition to deer, and racoons, bear had broken into this bag. there was grain, animals tracks, and racoon shit everywhere. next year we won't be storing grain in bags near the valley. below is a picture of one of the bear paw prints on the bag with my hand beside to show a comparison in size.

as everyone knows, the stones concerts in regina take place this weekend. i will be in the city friday night for sure and will be wanting to get blacked out drunk after the concert(if im not already), so anyone wanting to join me can track me down in coronach this week until wednesday then ill be back in abernethy on thursday for the long weekend.
also there is a new photo gallery on breakfast meat, its not safe for work or school so be warned, and if anyone has any submissions they would like to make please send them in, all identities will be protected if that is the desire of those submitting.

going on the pil tonight

its harvest time and the crop isn't completely off yet, however the weather is the shits and won't permit us to get into the field to finish. since the weather is bad and the forecast isn't good for the next few days i will be going to yorkton this afternoon to abuse my body and mind by consuming copious amounts of alcohol. bucka, zrymiak, danny, renee, and it sounds like carissa and devan will be coming out tonight as well. all those coming out tonight bring your cameras if you have them so we can get some pictures to put on breakfast meat.

deer in the headlights
this long weekend while everyone was either partying red paper clip style in kipling or getting sloshed at the labour day classic at taylor field i was killing wildlife with my car and combining and hauling grain. below are some pictures from my weekend in abernethy, im back in coronach now to finish work this week then ill be going back to abernethy for three weeks to help my dad with harvest some more.
my dad combining
grain trucks otherwise known as my office

friday night i hit a deer on highway 56 between indian head and katepwa on my way back to my farm, it was a big doe that ran from the left side of the highway and into my front left quarter panel, its head smashed into my windshield which sprayed glass onto my face, and it then somehow damaged my left rear quarter panel. i can assure everyone alcohol was not a factor in this accident but it certainly was after i parked my car at katepwa bar and discovered the extent of the damage. once i arrived in katepwa and tried to get out of my car i realized my door wouldn't open so i was forced to crawl out the passenger door. here are some pictures of my deer ravaged car.
terminal 22 which is located west of balcarres, as seen from south east of abernethy

Mrs. Myrt Love/ Ms. Myrt Love/ Mrs. Myrt Hart/ Mrs. Leigh Hart
I received an email today from one of my long lost elementary school teachers. Mrs. Leigh Hart, formerly Mrs. Myrt Love of Abernethy emailed me today in regards about the website im working on for the village of abernethy. apparently her godfather was the late Len Thompson, who is featured on the website because he started the Len Thompson Bait company, which is known for its five of diamonds fishing spoons, in Abernethy. Mrs. Hart now resides in British Columbia with her husband Fred, it was definately neat hearing from her but it kind of boggles my mind how she found my email address. oh well.

Abernethy Online

i was bored last night, as is often the case considering i live in coronach. so i decided i would make a website for my hometown, Abernethy Saskatchewan. if anyone actually takes a look at this website they will see some len thompson fishing spoons used as buttons for navigation. why am i using fishing spoons for buttons ? the len thompson fishing lure company was started and had its first factory in abernethy. there is also a picture of a house on the top of the page, that house is the motherwell homestead which is abernethy's biggest claim to fame, it is located about 4 miles south of abernethy and was the home of saskatchewans first minister of agriculture and is currently a national historic site. hopefully i have more content up soon, i have contacted the abernethy business development committee and they seemed to be quite excited, they will be sending me more information to put online. eventually i would like to see this website with its own domain name but we will see how successful this first attempt is. if anyone would like to make any submissions of content or information please email me.
