S.T.C.

S.T.C. is again offering the summer youth pass to people age 15 to 25 for a one time cost of $100. The pass allows the holder to unlimited travel on any S.T.C. schedule for the months of June, July, and August. In other S.T.C. related news, employees represented by the Amalgamated Transit Union local 1374 ratified their collective bargaining agreement with S.T.C.

Greyhound vs. ATU 1374

The labour dispute between A.T.U. local 1374 and Greyhound Canada may be over soon, voting on the tentative agreement is scheduled to be done today sometime.

Greyhound Strike Imminent

Employees represented by Amalgamated Transit Union local 1374 gave a 72 hour strike notice to Greyhound Lines of Canada on May 14. The strike will become effective on May 18th at 00:01 a.m..

Breakfast Meat Is Back

Its been a while since i've posted, primarily because our host was having problems, but even if it wasn't there isn't a lot that was worth posting about.

One thing that was pretty neat happened today. A movie called Downloading Nancy was being filmed at the STC bus depot in Regina today.

On February 17th the annual snowpitch tournament in Balcarres is taking place followed by a cabaret at the hall.

S.T.C. changes bus schedule in Abernethy, Balcarres, and Lemberg

The bus schedule for the communities of Abernethy, Lemberg, and Balcarres will change because of Federal changes to hours of service regulations for commercial drivers effective November 26th. below is a copy of the schedule.

In addition to the Regina-Churchbridge schedule which Abernethy is on, the following schedules will also be changed on November 26th.

Regina - Yorkton - Canora [Kamsack - Swan River - Preeceville]

Regina - Watson - Melfort [Nipawin - Carrot River - Prince Albert]

Prince Albert - Melfort - Tisdale - Nipawin

Saskatoon - Watson [Canora - Yorkton - Preeceville - Kamsack - Norquay]

Greyhound hit with class action law suit by survivors of crash

four of the surviving passengers from the deadly bus crash that took place in New York including two from Montreal have filed a class action law suit against Greyhound. the lawsuit is alleging that Greyhound was negligient and that the bus driver fell asleep at the wheel. the suit also raises concerns about the condition of the bus and that the bus driver was wearing earphones from an i-pod or some other personal music player.

the crash killed five people, three of which were from quebec and one being the bus driver.

Greyhound Bus Crash

a Greyhound coach that departed New York at 1 p.m. crashed on interstate 87 approximately 150 kilometers south of Montreal, and 177 kilometers north of Albany. Reports indicate that there were five deaths, it is unknown how many Canadians were among the 52 passengers on board the bus but a french translator was called to the scene of the crash.

Greyhound has set up a hot line for friends and families of those believed to be on board the bus, the number is 800-972-4583.

Do I look like a mennonite ?

last night a passenger that got off my bus in Assiniboia asked if i was a mennonite ? he said i looked like a mennonite because i was dressed entirely in black. i informed him it was a uniform that i'm required to wear while driving the bus. then in Rockglen i accidentally broke my key for the STC agency off inside the door and had to call the owner of the building. her and her husband came down and opened the door from the inside so i could drop off the freight i had brought. hopefully tomorrow she will have a new key for me. other than that my night was very uneventful. today i went to sarcan and got around eleven dollars-woo hoo. i then returned some dvd+r's to the coop that i had bought a while ago because i thought they were dvd-r's when i had boughten them. i then bought some offsale at the bar, had a peanut butter and jam sandwich for dinner and now im doing this.
