New Enterprise ICK

This is apparently the re designed 'original' Starship Enterprise. This is what is supposedly being used in the upcoming eleventh and re imagined film in the Star Trek franchise. While the story sounds great so far, my stomach sank when I saw this starship. The only way this design will work is if in addittion to this new movie Paramount launches a re imagined version of the ST:TOS in similiar fashion to what SCI FI did with Battlestar Galactica.

New Star Trek Movie -- Nimoy IN, Shatner OUT !!!

Maybe Shatner isn't in it, but that doesn't mean Captain Kirk isn't. Perhaps there is an old Spock (obviously played by Nimoy), and a young Kirk (obviously not played by Shatner). Remember that travelling through time seems to be a recurring theme in Star Trek.

Of Gods and Men

Of Gods and Men is an internet film based in the fiction Star Trek Universe. It was created to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Star Trek franchise. Starring Nichelle Nichols(Uhura), Walter Koenig(Chekov), Alan Ruck(Capt.John Harriman from Star Trek Generations), as well as several other Star Trek veterens and fans both in front of and behind the camera. As a Star Trek fan, I'll wait until I make my final decision on whether or not it sucks, but judging from the trailer which I embedded at the bottom of this post, you can tell this isn't a big studio production, but it does Orion Slave Girls. Saskboy seems psyched about it though.

Writers of new Star Trek movie speak out

Star Trek XI The newest Star Trek movie is supposed to be just that, 'Star Trek'. No roman numerals, no colons, just Star Trek. It is also apparently not a prequel as rumours have suggested or a sequel but a reimagining of the franchise.

Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, the two screen writers of the newest Trek flick have also stated that this installation will have a larger budget than any of the previous Trek movies, and that Paramount gave them 'no stipulations and no limits'. There will be significantly more action scenes, and that is about all they are willing to reveal so far, other than the story will revolve around a starship, and the technobabble will also remain.

Alex Kurtzman As to the rumours about the cast, Kurtzman did admit that he is a huge Matt Damon fan, and it would be great if he portrayed Kirk.
Kurtzman, Orci, and director/producer J.J. Abrams all worked together previously on Lost which Abrams created, and Mission Impossible III which Abrams directed and Kurtzman and Orci wrote.

Star Trek The Original Series to be digitally remastered

the original series of Star Trek is being digitally remastered, and the special effects are being improved. here is an excerpt from the official Star Trek website with more detail.

The remastering of Star Trek is not a project to be undertaken lightly. There is a history here of some 40 years, a timespan long enough that some people are suspicious of using modern digital technology to enhance a show that was considered pretty cutting edge in its day; the quaint appeal of its admittedly now creaky special effects would somehow be lost. But to others, the relic of Star Trek's original visual effects is exactly what needs to be updated to make the show more appealing for repeated viewings and future High Definition media, and to a younger audience already transfixed by the digital chaos that exists in some modern movies.

To allay any fears, and to answer your most common questions, we've compiled a list and presented them to the experts, the ones actually overseeing the all-new and improved digital effects while striving to maintain the integrity of the Original Series.

Mike Okuda – Former Star Trek (multiple series) scenic art supervisor, technical consultant and author
Denise Okuda – Former Star Trek (multiple series) scenic artist, video supervisor and author
Dave Rossi – Former Star Trek (multiple series) producer, production associate and overseer of special projects.
